ABB Optical Group and EyecareLive Announce Integrated Ordering Enhancement to Telemedicine Platform
Patients can now order their contact lenses directly from their eye care provider on the EyecareLive app and ABB Optical Group will fulfill and ship the order
Coral Springs, Fla. (August 4, 2020) – With the global COVID-19 pandemic continuing to drive patients to look for alternative methods of access to care, ABB Optical Group (ABB) and its telemedicine solution collaborator, EyecareLive, have announced enhancements to the EyecareLive platform. These features improve the doctor and patient experience for eye care professionals (ECPs) utilizing EyecareLive and include integrated ordering and fulfillment of optical products through ABB.
In May, ABB brought EyecareLive’s doctor-owned, HIPAA compliant, optical focused platform to ECPs as part of the ABB Revitalize eye care recovery initiative. Since then, hundreds of ECPs have implemented the EyecareLive platform, through ABB, as a way to manage patient flow, conduct virtual patient visits and maintain the critical doctor/patient relationship.
The new ABB e-commerce enhancement within the EyecareLive platform allows patients to conveniently purchase their prescribed contact lenses directly from their doctor. The payment can be processed through the application and insurance benefits can be applied. The order is then fulfilled by ABB, on behalf of the ECP, and shipped directly to the patient. In addition to the benefits that this enhancement provides to patients, ECPs are able to offer a convenient service and increase capture rate.
“In order to truly support the eye care professional, it is critical that we find ways to help our customers improve office efficiency, reduce costs and increase revenue. This ordering capability is a game-changer for telemedicine in the optometric space and sets EyecareLive and ABB’s relationship apart from all others in the market,” said ABB’s Senior Vice President of Strategy and Commercialization Erika Jurrens. “The enhancement focuses on making the ordering process for patients and practices simple, quick and convenient for everyone.”
EyecareLive introduced other additions and enhancements to its platform , including the ability for ECPs to e-prescribe medications and send the prescriptions directly to the patient’s preferred pharmacy, the capability for ECPs to schedule virtual appointments on behalf of patients, and a reimagined, easier-to-use doctor’s portal with intuitive improvements and built in tools.
“At EyecareLive, we are continuously exploring features that will bring additional value to the eye care professionals utilizing our platform. The e-commerce store for contact lenses will allow patients to purchase lens immediately after their exam, through the ECPs practice,” said EyecareLive CEO Raj Ramchandani. “As a telehealth company created by eye doctors, for eye doctors, we understand the unique needs of ECPs and we’re committed to meeting those needs. Our relationship with ABB Optical Group allows us to seamlessly fulfill orders from the e-commerce store to benefit doctors and their patients.”
EyecareLive’s patient-friendly app allows for easy appointment scheduling, video conferencing, messaging and allows for a variety of patient reminders and notifications. The platform also provides patients the ability to take app-facilitated tests for visual acuity, dry eye, contact lens comfort and macular degeneration. Telemedicine complements the role of the optometrist, and does not replace the need for comprehensive eye exams to provide the best care for patients’ eye health and safety.
ABB customers can take advantage of EyecareLive’s telemedicine platform in their practice at no cost for 60 days.
