Primary Eyecare Network is Offering Excellence in Leadership Seminar July 17
Two sessions are each worth three ABO continuing education credits

 

ALAMEDA, Calif. (June 3, 2019) – Primary Eyecare Network (PEN), ABB OPTICAL GROUP's practice management division, is offering a leadership seminar for office staff members on July 17 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the PEN Education Center, 1750 N. Loop Road in Alameda, California.

"Paraoptometric staff play a vital role in the success of a practice and it is important to give them the resources they need to flourish as leaders," said Melanie Miller, managing director at ABB OPTICAL GROUP. "This seminar will provide employees with a great toolkit to succeed in their current roles and continue growing in their professional careers."

In the morning session, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., American Board of Opticianry certified optician and certified paraoptometric Mary Schmidt will teach participants how to inspire staff, set realistic goals and create a positive workplace. Participants also will discuss establishing goals and objectives, setting performance standards, developing job descriptions, addressing performance issues, delegation and performance appraisals. The afternoon session, from 1 to 5 p.m., will focus on the skills needed to hire the right people and motivate staff. Schmidt also will cover how to harness and develop staff skills while helping teams improve morale. Each session costs $150 for PEN members, $190 for non-members and is worth three ABO continuing education credits.
