ABB OPTICAL GROUP Announces Winners of Fourth Annual ABB Cares Program
Nominated by eye care professionals nationwide, seven charities to receive grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000

 

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. (November 15, 2017) – ABB OPTICAL GROUP, a leading distributor of optical products, is proud to announce that seven non-profit organizations, nominated by eye care professionals nationwide, will receive grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 for outstanding programming and community impact through the Fourth Annual ABB Cares Program.

The 2017 ABB Cares grant recipients are: Nevada Blind Children's Foundation in Las Vegas; Junior Charity League of Concord in Concord, N.C.; Special Olympics Florida in Clermont, Fla.; Mercy Health Center in Athens, Ga.; Plano Child Development in Chicago; Strathmere Volunteer Fire Company in Strathmere, N.J.; and Valley Center for the Blind in Fresno, Calif.;

 

PLATINUM ABB CARES GRANT OF $5,000

Nevada Blind Children's Foundation
The mission of Nevada Blind Children's Foundation, nominated by The Vision Centers, is to provide the essential building blocks to children who are visually impaired. The organization will receive a $5,000 ABB Cares grant that will support afterschool life skills and education classes.


GOLD ABB CARES GRANTS OF $2,500

Junior Charity League of Concord
Nominated by Invision Family Eyecare, Junior Charity League of Concord is devoted to providing basic needs, educational programs and social services to children and families in the community. The $2,500 ABB Cares grant will fund the purchase new clothing and shoes for students in need.

Special Olympics Florida
The mission of Special Olympics Florida, nominated by Paul Vision Care, is to provide year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for people with intellectual disabilities who wish to participate. Special Olympics Florida will receive a $2,500 ABB Cares grant to help fund programs and services.


SILVER ABB CARES GRANTS OF $1,000

Mercy Health Center
The mission of Mercy Health Center, nominated by Thomas Eye Center, is to provide quality, whole-person healthcare at no cost to low-income and uninsured individuals. Mercy Health Center will receive a $1,000 ABB Cares grant that will fund supplies needed to continue treating patients diagnosed with diabetes.

Plano Child Development
Nominated by American Vision, Plano Child Development is dedicated to identifying and evaluating educationally disadvantaged youth with underdeveloped and inefficient visual processing systems. The organization will receive a $1,000 ABB Cares grant to help fund free vision workshops in the community and to expand the number of schools and organizations they serve.

Strathmere Volunteer Fire Company
Strathmere Volunteer Fire Company, nominated by Ocean City Vision Center, is a volunteer fire and rescue organization dedicated to saving lives. The organization will receive a $1,000 ABB Cares grant to help fund equipment, such as bunker gear, for the volunteers.

Valley Center for the Blind
Nominated by Eye Q Vision Care, Valley Center for the Blind provides services for the blind and visually impaired. The $1,000 ABB Cares grant will be used to set up a low vision clinic that will further establish a professional interdisciplinary rehabilitation facility for the visually impaired and blind population in the community.
